Mr. Richard M. Hughes, Sr

Beech Island, SC – died Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at home.  He was the beloved husband of Pamela (Green) Hughes, father to Richard M Hughes, Jr and Emily M Hughes, and grandfather to Levi McGee.  He was the son of the late LeRoy Hughes and the late Betty (Ireson) Hughes, and brother to Fred (Rose) Hughes of Apex, NC, Robert (Ellen) Hughes of Jackson, NJ, Calvin (Connie) Hughes of Barnegat, NJ, Leon (Deanna) Hughes of Wilson, NC, and Gary (Melissa) Hughes of Howell, NJ.   He was devoted to his family and friends and his love of martial arts.  He was an instructor and held a 2nd degree black belt in Tang Soo Do, and achieved high ranks in Judo and Karate as well.  He also enjoyed camping and dancing.  He attended the Aiken Ebenezer Church of the Nazarene in Aiken, SC.  The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.  A Celebration of Life service will be held in January (date to be announced) at the Freedom Biker Church of Aiken.  Please sign the online registry at www.colefuneralhomeinc.net.
