Persephone “Persa” C Karapatakis

Aiken, SC—Funeral services for Ms. Persephone “Persa” C Karapatakis, age 87, will be held on 12:00 pm on Friday December 13, 2024, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Augusta with Father Vasile Bitere officiating. Interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery, Aiken. Pallbearers will be Todd Hill, Justin Owens, Jaden Hill, Patrick Haldezos, Nicholas Haldezos, and Thomas Rhoden. Ms. Karapatakis entered into rest on Saturday December 7, 2024, at her residence. She was a daughter to the late Mr. Konstantine Karapatakis and the late Mrs. Eirene Mamakos. Ms. Karapatakis was a native of Plomari, Greece, but had made the Aiken area her home since 1967. She was of the Greek Orthodox faith and a faithful member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox of Augusta, GA. Ms. Karapatakis had many hobbies and interests including fishing, traveling, cooking, baking pastries, gardening, listening to Greek music, and watching her Greek soap operas. She also loved volunteering for her church and was also a member of the Philoptohos Society. She was loved by her family and friends and will be deeply missed. Survivors include: one son Pete (Karen) Moutzouris, Aiken; one daughter Irene (Peter) Haldezos, Aiken; five grandchildren Patrick (Sheila) Haldezos, Nicholas (Whitney) Haldezos, Persa (Thomas) Rhoden, Wendi (Todd) Hill, and Stacey Spivey; ten great grandchildren M’Kayle Pritchett, Payton Pritchett, Justin Owens, Jayden Hill, Abigail Haldezos, Alivia Haldezos, Xander Rhoden, Elena Rhoden, Blaise Spivey, and Bailee Spivey; an honorary sister Maria Gallos Key; a beloved cousin Sue (Andrea Giannopoulos) Cholakis; and several nieces and nephews. Ms. Karpatakis was preceded in death by: her brother John Karapatakis; three sisters Demetra Vereens Gray, Maria Gagali, and Mersina Psichogios; and one grandson Christopher Pritchett. A visitation with the family will start at 6:00 pm on Thursday December 12, 2024, with a Trisagion service following at 7:00 pm at COLE FUNERAL HOME 1544 UNIVERSITY PKWY (118 BYPASS) AIKEN, SC 29801 803-648-7175 with Father Vasile Bitere officiating.
