Mrs. Pansy Heywood Moyer passed away peacefully at home on July 6, 2021. Pansy was the wife of James A. Moyer and was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph A. and Janie S. Heywood of Leesville, SC., her son David Bruce Moyer and her grandson Larry R. (Bobby) Moyer.
Pansy was born in Lexington, SC and moved to Aiken, SC when she and James were married in 1943.
Ms. Moyer was a Charter member of Marion Street Baptist Church where she helped build the church and served as the President of the Women’s Southern Baptist Missionary Association of Aiken County. Pansy taught Sunday School, Girls Junior Auxiliary, and worked with the Women’s Organizations of many churches in South Carolina.
In later years Mrs. Moyer taught teens and adults to drive. The South Carolina Highway Department in Aiken would send students to her that were having trouble passing their Drivers test. She never failed to help the students pass the written and driving test.
Pansy loved to cook and always made sure that everyone was welcome at her table. She especially loved to bake and was the author of specialty recipes that have been published in magazines and papers.
Mrs. Moyer is survived by her daughter Jane M. Curry (Sidney) of Evans, Georgia, and Larry A. Moyer (Patricia) of Aiken, South Carolina, Daughter-ln-law Miriam Moyer (Bruce), two brothers Hoy Heywood of West Columbia, SC and Woodrow Heywood of Leesville, SC. Mrs. Moyer has ten (10) grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren,13 great-great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ethan Moyer-Alderman, Eddie Barber, Bobby Carpenter, Micah McKenzie, Neil Moyer, and Thomas (Tiger) Moyer.
The family will receive friends at Cole Funeral Home, Aiken, SC. From 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday July 9, 2021.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 10, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Cole Funeral Home, Aiken SC with burial in Bethany Cemetery, Aiken, SC.
