Mrs. Maxine Lillian Belcher

Maxine Lillian Dewey Belcher, 97, of North Augusta, South Carolina, passed away on January 2, 2025. She was born on November 16, 1927 in Athol, Kansas but spent most of her adult life in the Pacific Northwest.

She is survived by her daughters, Melody Scott and Marlena Montaine. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merton Belcher, her sister, Genevieve MacDonald, and her brothers Merle Dewey, Kenneth Dewey, Doyle Dewey and Bob Dewey.

Maxine loved animals, especially her dogs. In her final decade she started painting and produced beautiful art. She attended Via Cognitive Health in Augusta, GA two days per week where she was protective of anyone who needed help and was very loved by the staff. Her daughter, Melody, took care of her when she became unable to fully care for herself and provided care for her until the end of her life. She will be greatly missed.

A private burial will take place in the Spring at Bellvue Memorial Gardens in Augusta, GA.
