Mr. Marvin Arthur Zuelsdorf
Aiken—A celebration of life service for Mr. Marvin Arthur Zuelsdorf age 85 will be held 11:00 am Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Pastor Gary Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Graniteville Cemetery with military honors accorded by the U.S. Navy ceremonial team.
Mr. Zuelsdorf, fondly known as Marv, entered into rest Sunday, May 15, 2016 at his residence. He was a native of Horicon, Wisconsin and had made Aiken County his home for the past 51 years. Marv was the beloved husband of the late Mrs. Peggie Jeannine Holley Zuelsdorf, and a son of the late Mr. Arthur Zuelsdorf and the late Mrs. Anna Dehn Zuelsdorf. Marv started his career with his family business, Zuelsdorf’s Market, Horicon, Wisconsin. He became very civically involved in various organizations in Horicon. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Tidewater. After moving his family to the Aiken area, he continued his career in the grocery business settling in with Fulmer’s Piggly Wiggly where he remained until his retirement in 1986. Marv had many artistic interests and was a master woodcarver further developing his skills with the Wood Carvers Association and the Wood Carvers club of Aiken. He displayed his artwork in many local exhibits and was awarded numerous plaques and citations for his creations. He was very well known and beloved by many throughout Aiken and will be dearly missed. He was a longtime, dedicated member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Debra (Jim) Price, Aiken, Holly (Mickey) Johnson, Aiken; one sister, Mrs. Lois Wadsworth, Moline, IL; two grandchildren, Lauren (Jake) Boykin, Sarah Johnson; two great grandchildren, Lainy Maciejewski, and Tucker Boykin; two dear Sisters-in-Law Frankie Cubbedge & Carolyn Reeves, and numerous nieces and nephews all of whom he dearly loved.
In Lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church 902 Hitchcock Drive, SW, Aiken, SC, 29801 or to the H.O.P.E foundation, thehopecharity.org.
Florist: The church will be open at 3:00 Wednesday May 18, 2016 to receive flowers.
