Mr. John E. “Buddy” Johnson
Aiken, SC--A celebration of life service for Mr. John E. "Buddy" Johnson age 78 will be held 2:30 pm Thursday June 24, 2021 at Shiloh Baptist Church with Dr. Rev. Chris Masters and Rev. Todd Cook officiating. Military honors will be recorded by the U.S. Army Ceremonial Team after the service. Interment will be held private. Mr. Johnson entered into rest peacefully early Monday morning June 21, 2021 while sleeping, and tenderly holding his wife's hand. Buddy was a native and a life long resident of Aiken County. He was the beloved husband of 57 years to Mrs. Ann Cook Johnson, and a son of the late Mr. John Haskell Johnson and Mrs. Mattie Geneva Johnson. Buddy had retired from the Satcher Ford Motor Company of Aiken as a Service Manager in 2006 with 25 years of service. Before then he had co-owned Johnson-Whittle Tire and Auto on Richland Ave. in Aiken. Buddy was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the U.S. Army and served 5 years in the Army Reserves. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Aiken. Additional survivors include one son, Chris (Vivian) Johnson, Warrenville; one daughter, Whitney Ann Johnson, Fountain Inn; one brother, Ed Johnson, Lakeland, FL; four sisters, Mary Hallman, Evans, GA, Sue Bodie, Greenwood, Barbara Cowart, Aiken, Sylvia Jordan, Vaucluse; eight Grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Buddy was also predeceased by one sister, Shirley Jordan. In lieu of flowers the family would like memorials be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St Jude Pl., Memphis TN, 38105-9959. The family would like to express a gratitude of thanks to Andrea Ball, Delores Bush, and Trinity Hospice for the compassionate love and tender care they took of Buddy and his immediate family. A visitation with the family will take place at the church starting at 1:30 pm Thursday June 24, 2021 until time of service.
