New Ellenton, SC--A celebration of life service for Mr. John Edwin Crawford, Jr. will be held 12:00 noon Thursday March 11, 2021 at Cole Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Manuel Gunter officiating.  Military Honors will be accorded by the U.S. Naval Ceremonial Team. Interment will be private.  Mr. Crawford entered in to rest Saturday March 6, 2021 at AU Medical Center (MCG) Augusta, GA. He was the husband of Mrs. Wendy Troester Crawford and a son of the late Mr. John Edwin Crawford, Sr. and the late Mrs. Eva Epting Crawford.  Mr. Crawford  had retired from the Aiken County Clerk of Courts office as a Bailiff after 15 years of service.  For five years Mr. Crawford was in Maintenance  for the Aiken County Court House.  In 1992 He retired from the Clearwater Finishing Plant after 20 years of service in the Maintenance Department.  Mr. Crawford was a veteran of the Vietnam war having served in the U.S. Navy where he received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal.  He was of the Baptist Faith. Additional survivors include one daughter, Cindy Lynn (Jamey) Crawford, Jackson; one son, Bryan Wiley Crawford, New Ellenton, two step sons, Darren Henry, New Ellenton, James (Michale) Henry, New Ellenton; three grandchildren, Brittany Lynn, Tiffany Anne,  and Jeremy Patrick Crawford; two great grandchildren, Bently and Braylen Crawford; four step grandchildren, Adryan Lynn Henry, Natalie Page Henry, Lillian Scott Henry, and James Henry, Jr. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested that memorials be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Rd. Greenville, SC 29605.  Due to the Covid-19 situation mask are to be worn and social distancing will be observed. The service will be livestreamed on the Cole Funeral Home Facebook page.  A visitation with the family will take place 6-8 pm Wednesday March 10, 2021 at COLE FUNERAL HOME 1544 UNIVERSITY PARKWAY (118 BY PASS) AIKEN, SC, 29801. 803-648-7175.
