Mrs. Ione Smith Newman

 Aiken, SC— A celebration of life service for Mrs. Ione Smith Newman will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Faulkville Baptist Church in Bloomingdale, GA with Rev. Steve Purnell officiating. Mrs. Newman, age 102, entered into rest on July 9, 2024 at her residence. She was the loving wife to the late Mr. Hilton Dodge Newman and was the daughter of the late Mr. Adolphus Smith and the late Mrs. Myrtle Seals Smith. Before moving to Aiken in 2019, she attended Faulkville Baptist Church. She held many job titles and various positions through her life, but most importantly she was a homemaker to her loving family. Some of her hobbies included crafting and cooking. Survivors include: two daughters, Brenda (Ronald) Bass, Abbeville, AL and Rana (Gary) Sullivan, Aiken, SC; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three step great grands; and three step great-great grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Mary Evelyn Goodrich Newman, Oakhill, FL. She was preceded in death by her son, Hilton Kemp Newman; two brothers, Gene Smith and Dean Smith; four sisters, Elizabeth Durden, Jeanette Frost, Winnefred Dowd, and Myra Purnell.
