Mr. Frederick "Fred" John Schultz, Jr.

Aiken SC--A celebration of life service for Mr. Frederick John "Fred" Schultz, Jr, age 74 will be held 6:00 pm Wednesday May 24, 2017 at Cole Funeral Home Chapel with military honors accorded by the U.S. Air Force Ceremonial Team.  Fred will be taken to Greenwood-Serenity Memorial Gardens, Montgomery, AL to be placed beside his beloved late wife Mrs. Mary Parnell Schultz.  Fred was the son of the late Mr. Frederick John Schultz, Sr. and the late Mrs. Jenny Srednicki Schultz. He entered into rest  October 5th, 2016 at his residence  and was a born in Watervliet, NY.  Fred spent his younger years in Somers,CT then moved to Abbeville, SC with his parents in 1958.  In 1962 he graduated from Clemson University with a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering,  and was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the U.S. Air Force as a  B-52 pilot. After his time in the service Fred began his career at the Department of Energy (DOE) Savannah River Site as an Engineer in the early 1980's. He made significant contributions to many major projects and engineering efforts at  SRS for over 30 years.  Fred's dedication as a public servant resulted in an illustrious technical career that spanned a rare 50 years of federal government service to his nation. Fred is survived by his  two cousins Sonya Burton of Preston, CT, Patricia Fernald of Forrest, VA, one nephew, Joe Buchka, Colchester, CT. A visitation will be held following the service at COLE FUNERAL HOME 1544 UNIVERSITY PARKWAY (118 BY PASS) AIKEN, SC, 29801. 803-648-7175.
