Mr. Floyd David “Top” Gunter, Sr.
Aiken—Entered into rest Sunday, August 25, 2013 at his residence, Mr. Floyd David “Top” Gunter, Sr. age 83, husband of Mrs. Virginia Snipes Gunter, and son of the late Mr. Jesse Gunter and the late Mrs. Isabell Smith Gunter.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 pm Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Redds Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Watford officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Mr. Gunter will be placed in the Church at 3:00 pm.
Mr. Gunter was a native of Lexington, SC and was a lifelong resident of Aiken. He was a Self employed Plumbing Contractor, and for over 15 years gave his assistance to the Golden Harvest Food Bank. Mr. Gunter was an avid fisherman and gardener.
Additional survivors include one son- Floyd David (Kathy) Gunter, Jr., Aiken; three daughters- Ginger Gunter (Donnie) Henderson, Aiken, Janet Gunter (Donnie) Lybrand, Aiken, Betty (Terry) Jones, Climax, NC; three sisters- Ellen Whisenant, Clearwater, LouElla Vaughn, Aiken, Rose Crapps, Batesburg; three grandchildren, Jeremy Widener, Stacy Russell, Sarah Gunter; one great grandchild, Tristan Russell. Mr. Gunter was predeceased by two brothers, Henry and Trudell Gunter, two sisters, Ila Mae Heyward, and Bea Boyd.
Pallbearers will be Allen Russell, Jeremy Widener, Pete Widener, J.P. Barton, William Dyches, and Robbie Bentley.
The family would like to express a gratitude of thanks to Paulette Bradley, Mickie Simmons, LaChann Anderson-Price, and Tri-County Hospice for their care and compassion they gave Mr. Gunter during his illness.
