Mrs. Edith Washington Scarboro
Aiken, SC—A celebration of life service for Mrs. Edith Washington Scarboro, age 76, will be held Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses with Brother John Fridie officiating. Mrs. Scarboro entered into rest Monday May 29, 2023, at Pruitt-Health Aiken. She was the beloved wife to the late Mr. James E. Scarboro, Sr. for 54 years. She was born in Aiken, SC, and was the daughter of the late Mr. Louis Washington, and the late Mrs. Lula Mae Hightower. Mrs. Edith Washington Scarboro was a lifelong resident of Aiken. She was a member of the Central Congregation at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Whiskey Road, Aiken, SC. She was baptized in 1968 as a Jehovah’s Witness. She worked for several agencies in Aiken as a CNA for over 50 years, until she retired in 2019. Mrs. Scarboro enjoyed reading, music, and loved people. Survivors include four sons, James E. (Shirlene) Scarboro, Jr. Windsor, Michael (Crystal) Scarboro, Aiken, Randy (Shannon) Scarboro, Fresno, CA, Nicholas Scarboro, Aiken, SC; two daughters, Sheila Griffin, Aiken, Denita (John) Cox, Rocky Mount, NC; one sister, Elain Smith, Aiken; five grandchildren, Stefon Scarboro, Evelyn Dunbar, Terrence Griffin, Michael Jamil Scarboro, and Ethan Scarboro; and a host of family and friends. She was predeceased by three brothers, Louis Washington Jr., John Washington, and James Washington; three sisters, Ella Mae Spann, Emma Jackson, and Ernestine Thomas. The family would like to thank Pruitt-Health of Aiken for the love and care they showed their mother. The family will greet with friends following the service.
