Mr. Earl Horace Hite, Sr.
A celebration of life service for Mr. Earl Horace Hite, Sr., age 100, will be held 11:00 AM Friday July 16, 2021 at Cole Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brancie Stephens officiating. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Park with military honors accorded by the U.S. Army Ceremonial Team. Mr. Hite entered into rest on Tuesday July 13, 2021. He was the beloved son of the late Mr. Yancy L. Hite and the late Mrs. Maggie Lee Ripley Hite. Mr. Hite was a native of Augusta, GA and had made Aiken County his home all his life. He was a veteran World War II, haviing served in the U.S. Army. where he fought in the Battle of Normandy. Mr. Hite was a Christian and was a member of First Baptist Church of Aiken. He worked over 70 years as an automobile salesman and was associated with the Gingrey Brothers, Ellington Buick Cadillac, Ellington Owensby Cadillac, and retired at Owensby Buick Cadillac. Mr. Hite was a driver for many of the Winter Colony residents. His hobbies included woodworking, building bird houses, gardening, small engine repair, and watching NASCAR racing. Survivors include: one son Earl Horace "Bubba" (Michele Fallaw) Hite, Jr., Aiken; three daughters Sidney Hite Schifferli, Aiken, Wanda Lista, Aiken, and Roma Adelene Hughes, Aiken; one sister Lorie Powell Storey, Aiken; 13 grandchildren; and 26 great grandchildren, and his sister in law, Adelene Hite, Aiken. Mr. Hite was preceded in death by: two brothers Theodore "Dosie" Hite and Y. L. Hite; his twin sister Helen Pearl Cochran; a daughter-in-law Wanda Hite; and two grandchildren Mary Hughes and Ty Youngblood. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Camp Sertoma 415 Charlie White Tr Pendleton, SC 29670 and to Serenity Village 6 Dunean St Greenville, SC 29611.
