Clarence Grady Spivey
Aiken, SC—A celebration of life service for Mr. Clarence Grady Spivey, age 82, will be held Wednesday August 10, 2022 at Cole Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Randy Tiller officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors and Masonic rites. Pallbearers will be Christipher Black, Clifford Mayle, Cody Mitchell, Richard Mayle, Jr., Colby Foster, and Richard Wilkey. Honorary pallbearers will be the Marine Corp League. Mr. Spivey entered into rest Saturday August 6, 2022 at his residence. He was the son of the late Mr. John Spivey and the late Mrs. Mary “Frances” Williams Spivey. Mr. Spivey was a native of Augusta, GA, and a lifelong resident of Aiken. He was a veteran of the United States Marines. Mr. Spivey was of the Baptist faith and worked at Owens Corning Fiberglass for 19 years retiring in 1979 as a lab technician. His hobbies included fishing, watching Atlanta Braves baseball and Georgia Bulldog football, Toys for Tots, Junior Marines in Augusta, and volunteering at Charlie Norwood Veterans Hospital in Augusta, GA. Mr. Spivey was a member of the Masonic Lodge AFM Horse Creek #174 Langley, the American Legion Post 172 in Graniteville, the Devil Dogs, the VFW #10601 in Aiken, the 40&8 Veterans Organization, and the Marine Corp League James L. Hammons Detachment #939 Aiken where he was Junior Vice Commandant. Survivors include: two sons Stanley (Cherie) Spivey, Aiken, and Gregory (Brenda) Spivey, Aiken; two daughters Cynthia “Cindy” (Richard) Mayle, Aiken, and Karla (Roger) Mitchell, Batesburg; two sisters Helen Browning, Hephzibah, GA, and Debbie Joye, Augusta, GA; 11 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren. Mr. Spivey was preceded in death by two brothers John Spivey and Artis Joye and two sisters Maria Waites and Carolyn Carter. A visitation with the family will take place from 6-8 pm Tuesday August 9, 2022, at COLE FUNERAL HOME 1544 UNIVERSITY PKWY (118 BYPASS) AIKEN, SC 29801 803-648-7175.
