Trenton, SC—Mrs. Carolyn Mae Byrd, age 71, entered into rest on June 15, 2024 at her home. A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Bel-Ridge Baptist Church, North Augusta, with Pastor Chris Wyatt officiating. She was born in Wellsboro, PA to the late Mr. Arthur Shelman and the late Mrs. Shirley Zinck Shelman. Carolyn was married to her loving husband, the late Mr. Larry Leonard Byrd. She has made the CSRA her home for the past 48 years. She was a member of Bel-Ridge Baptist Church and was involved with the Sunday school class. She retired in 2017, after 29 years of being the shift supervisor at East Central Regional Hospital (Gracewood Hospital) Augusta, GA. Her hobbies included fishing, dancing, making wreaths, and going to the mountains and the beach. Carolyn loved joking around and will be missed greatly by her family and friends. Survivors include: one daughter, Melissa (Richard) Cohen, Trenton, SC; one brother, Roger Shelman, Trenton, SC; 5 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Tyrone Swansbrough; daughter-in-law Maria Swansbrough; and one grandson Michael Swansbrough.
