 Aiken, SC—A celebration of life service for Miss. Bertha Remell Carswell age 87 will be held 1:00 pm Saturday September 28, 2024 at Cole Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. William Peterson officiating. Burial will take place following the service at Aiken Memorial Park. Miss. Carswell entered into rest Tuesday September 17, 2024 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Walter Carswell and the late Mrs. Irene McCasling Carswell. Miss. Carswell retired in 1995 from Verizon Telephone Company in New York City as a phone operator after 26 years of service in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens, New York. She had a dual residence in Queens, NY and Aiken, SC. Her hobbies included playing the casinos, watching her favorite Soaps on TV and WNBA basketball. She was an avid fan of the Brooklyn Nets and the New York Knicks. Survivors include one daughter, Cheryl Carswell, Aiken; four grandchildren; Isaiah L. (Tiffany) Mealing, Latoya Mealing, Quandess Washington, and Sharika Washington; eight great grandchildren; Toynisha, Olivia, Taylor, Aleah Mealing, Kamille Coston, Jalaya Washington, Jacori and Jaidhn Ritter; two great great grandchildren; Reagan Mealing and Ryan Bailey; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Evelyn Carswell, New York, New York. Miss. Carswell was also predeceased by her five brothers; Tillman, Walter, Henry, Roosevelt, and William Carswell.
